DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the Institute of Transnational History of China (ITHC). As the Founding Director, I am deeply honored to share with you the vision and aspirations that guide our work.

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the Institute of Transnational History of China (ITHC). As the Founding Director, I am deeply honored to share with you the vision and aspirations that guide our work.

The Institute was established with a mission: to foster a deeper understanding of China’s rich and complex history through a transnational lens. By examining the dynamic interactions between China and the world—across borders, cultures, and time—we aim to illuminate the interconnectedness of human experiences and challenge conventional narratives.

In an increasingly globalized world, the study of transnational history is more vital than ever. It allows us to transcend national boundaries and explore the flows of ideas, people, goods, and institutions that have shaped societies. ITHC seeks to be at the forefront of this scholarly endeavor, promoting innovative research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful dialogue among scholars from diverse backgrounds.

As we embark on this journey, I invite you to join us in shaping the future of transnational historical studies. Whether you are a researcher, student, or enthusiast of history, your engagement and support are invaluable to our mission. Together, we can uncover new insights, bridge divides, and build a more nuanced understanding of our shared past.

Thank you for your interest in ITHC. I look forward to working with you as we explore the boundless possibilities of transnational history.

Xu Guoqi

Founding Director
